I think I can find a couple for you. I’ll send you a PM once I talk to the guys I have in mind. How much are you looking to pay?
Most guys I know are switching to a plain old laser or mora auger and drill combo. The guys with a K-drill have really been struggling the past month around here. For reference the old mora auger is twice as fast as a new K-Drill. Hand augers are about $30-75 new.
April 2, 2019 at 1:51 pm #1847865Fishthumper, I know it says 6″ but I’m looking to sell an 8″ with extra new blades, clam drill plate, coldsnap cover, along with original cover everything is in great shape. New the set up would cost $300+ i’ll let it go shipped for $230 OBO

^^ This. The sloppy slushy ice is not fun with a K-drill. I like my 6″, but it has it’s issues and has been stuck a couple times this year, even after clearing constantly. If I didn’t walk long distances and fish dirty backwater ice, I would have switched back already…

What are they doing as a safeguard to prevent the laser or Mora from going down the hole if it comes lose from the chuck?
What is the weigh difference between the Laser or Mora and the K-Drill?
I’ve used my K-Drill for 2 full seasons now and have not had 1 issue. I’ve probably drilled several thousand holes with it. I have a hard time believing that a Lazer or Mora could cut much quicker. I know my K-Drill is faster than a Lazer power auger for sure. I do have a lazer hand auger and may have to try that out on the Milwaukee drill to see how it cuts ( Even have new blades on it )

I’ve had a slight issue with the Slushy ice as well. I don’t think the auger is the issue. I just don’t think the drill have the power needed to spin correct in all that heavy west slush and water. I tend to think the same problem would accure with the drill hooked to either a lazer or more auger – Maybe even worse due to the extra weight of those augers

Before the K-drill, I used a 6” and 8” Nils. Neither experienced the issues with the same drill (996). Never used a laser or mora, can’t comment on those.
Angler IIPosts: 530April 2, 2019 at 10:34 pm #1847947Real life KDrill experience. I just got done fishing up north where I drilled through 4” of ice, then two inches of water and 20” ice. Water was coming into the hole FAST and the drill struggled a little. Just needed to clear the water faster. To be honest, I think any electric drill/auger combination would struggle in these conditions as the water was coming into the hole fast. I got about 25 holes per battery.
Sorry to hijack just wanted to give some real life experience.
I’m extremely happy with my 8” kdrill.

They use a plastic disc mounted to the shaft of the auger. The disc just has to be a 1/2″ bigger than the hole you are drilling.

I have a lazer hand auger. I may have to attach it to my hand drill and give it a try. It may be a little bit heavier but if it cuts as fast and works better. well worth it

Lazer’s are awesome. Clam drill plate with extension is the way to go. Never an issue with my setup last 2 yrs except drill kit dropped 100 bucks from when I bought mine.
April 3, 2019 at 1:17 pm #1848085I as well run a lazer. And my 6 beats my buddies 6 kdrill. Different drills though. And we dont race. But we did a few times.
I prefer my lazer bit just due to price. And I bought that extension piece from Joe and its deffinatley the business
