Is this in your back yard let us know how you like it.
Up to $1000 fine. I think I’ll stick to text and driving it’s cheaper if I don’t crash.

It is working. I have not been on any of these lakes because of the hassle.
I heard somewhere that all 3 of these lakes are already “infested” with something. Any truth to that? If so, why not have these requirements on clean lakes? Sounds like a lot of $$ spent on a lot of what-if’s…
No worries you can have the boat inspected days in advance or even weeks. You just cant use the boat in another lake before launching in that lake without another inspection.
So, I want to fish Sylvia lake to make it convenient I can drive 1 1/2 hours one way the day before to beat the weekend rush. Pretty good deal.
Anybody else read where their expecting to add more lakes in the future?
This is nothing more than a mess. I have been to several meetings to voice my opinion. It makes no sense you already have the invasives so I can take your invasives to another lake no checking etc at the landing how foolish. I thought to about never going there again but that’s what they want I refuse and will get checked for the fewer times I will be going up there but each time I get to fill there card out on what I think of it. Can you guess what I think of it? Wake up everyone they will say this is a success and it will continue to more of our lakes. How can it be a success? it’s like getting a disease and saying you still have it but it’s better now because you check it each time. Nothing gets my blood boiling more than this. Well need to get some sleep with my elevated blood pressure.
Oh I forgot last year I was the first one to “test” there wonderful inspection site drove right past it the signs sucked I have seen better yard sale signs. Busy hwy on 55 fun turning a boat around during rush hour. then you get to drive on chunks of rock to turn your boat around. Got there the person walked to the back of my boat said your plug is out your good to go? Never bent over to look underneath or nothing? I had to drive 10 miles farther than the lake for that. I could have went to the lake where the DNR onsite personal has been at, been on the lake quicker and with better inspection of all our boats. What a joke.

They just put up new big brown signs.

Yes, they want to add more lakes. They would like it to go county wide if possible.
Contact Heidi Wolf, 651-259-5152, [email protected], from Dnr, tell her this stinks. DNR is not totally on board with this and she is contact for it. If you contact county people, who knows if your opinions will be heard. If it was just up to county and Lake Assoc’s, we would have to back our boats into a solution of peroxide and who knows what. It is called Float the Boat. Luckily DNR shot that down.

Got it. Call will be made today.

I suggest time for a convoy. I would be willing to travel 1 1/2 hour one way for a mass of boats waiting in line to get inspected. Get the news involved also and if over spill happened to spill onto 55 so be it. Sitting on our buts will not stop this DNR sanctioned program.
For those just hearing about this now, here is a post from last summer about it. On the second page there is a link to a FB page that was created to discuss this issue and figure out if anything can be done.

Get the news involved
Just be careful. The news is not on our side.

Star tribune and The Outdoor news have both been critical of the plan.
I didn’t know canoes could not carry AIS??? Interesting……
Plan looks like it should, made by a politician who’s never owned a boat.
Such a joke. I propose anyone who lives on those lakes needs to have their boats only allowed on that lake can’t afford the risk of them bringing invasive s they already have to other lakes. From someone who lives on a lake but happens to not be a you know what.
I didn’t go to those lakes myself, but from reports on the FB page, sounds like the station had checked only 10 boats by 10am opening morning. Sounds like the Lake Associations got the results they were looking for, less traffic on their lakes. The small lake I was on had about 8 boats by that time, last year it was half of that. I defiantely think people were skipping those lakes.
