I’m not staying home. There is work to be done. Guess I hope I’m not one of the idiots.
December 10, 2021 at 3:37 pm #2080640Driving home in heavy snow from Northfield a few minutes ago I couldn’t believe the number of idiots that didn’t have their lights on! I know that with the automatic lights people just don’t think of it, but I flashed my lights at at least 10 vehicles and none of them turned their lights on.

December 10, 2021 at 3:45 pm #2080645Apparently interstate 35 south near Fairbault was closed earlier due to a 5 car accident including a jack knife semi. I think that’s been cleared now.
1/2 inch so far here, west metro.

Tom schmittPosts: 1014December 10, 2021 at 4:08 pm #2080659This wouldn’t be a big deal if people would look at their tires.
Most people don’t realize that an “all season” tire is one that is designed for road temperatures down to 40 degrees. Not snow, not ice.I’m guilty as well, but I don’t go out until the roads are clear or I use my 4 wheel drive.
I challenge everyone to look at a parking lot with at least 10 cars.
I will bet you will find at least 2 cars with tires that don’t have legal tread.December 10, 2021 at 4:08 pm #2080660The snow has to be at least 10 inches deep to bother me much but that happens when you have 4 wheel drive and snow tires. At just over 10 inches is when the snow gets to the crankshaft pulley and makes the serpentine belt slip causing the lights to dim

you need a blizzard to do that?

Not snow, not ice.I have driven on all season tires all my life and never had an issue. I dont get why so many people view them as a “need” – perhaps they just dont adjust their driving for the weather.
