Looking at getting a St Croix Premier HF 7’ rod paired with a Pflueger Supreme 35 for trophy pike fishing in Ontario. Thoughts on the combination? Recommendations? Trying to stay with a spinner setup as well…appreciate any help in advanced

Not sure I’d spend that kind of money for a pike rod. You don’t need sensitivity; when a pike hits you know it. A good glass rod works fine in my opinion. Good luck.

I think that would be a good set up the light weight will be huge if you plan to cast all day. If you’re going after trophy pay you might want to consider a 40 series reel and packed with 30 or even 40 pound test of some super line I prefer suffix but have had good luck with spider wire stealth or power pro.

What lures do you want to throw with it? Matching it to lure weight will matter more than the rest. May prefer the mhf over the hfs. 7′ is a nice choice in that lineup.

Agreed on upsizing that reel to the 40 series in Pflueger.

True, I agree a good glass rod will work fine and for less money.

I’m biased to the Premier series for pike. Bought a 6’6″ Spinning MHF over 10 years ago and still love it. FWIW – that’s the sweet spot for money vs value. Updated the reel to a Purist 40 a couple years back, quite happy. One thing for me, I don’t prefer throwing lures over 3/4 oz on spinning rigs so take that into account.

I started with a Cabela’s XML 7′ heavy two pieces spinning set up years ago and love it. I still use it as since most of the lures I toss are under 1.5 ounces. Mostly spoons and inline spinners.
