And your point is? Reports are the commander in chief has been exposed. They get it it from him? We maybe be able to have a stand in for the hair but the rest is gonna be tough.

Does there have to be a point? Just giving a little clarity to a misleading headline.

I think it’s very serious, it’s serious enough to likely put us into a recession much sooner then I’d like. The global economy will be in ruins and production down, jobs will be lost. Rates are low you say? Great, go refinance. Put that extra couple hundred into the market, oh wait.

I’m not worried about getting sick, the repercussions of the virus are scary and a reality.

Seen today the virus can be viable for up to 10 days on surfaces. Repeated hand washing and clean the kitchen and bathroom are recommended .

Our family is starting to run low on toilet paper. So I’m conducting a training session for them tomorrow – how to do tractor pulls on the remaining snow like my lab used to do. Just in case…

That’s not true. I heard the director of the national institute of health on camera say that its “likely at most a few hours.”

IT doesn’t matter what any of us think OR if we are concerned with the health portion of this virus, at all. What does matter is what is happening in the world and how it will affect us (even though you are healthy). The school closings are a very real reality for sure. And the ripple effect could be astronomical to you and I. Everything is happening so fast and people, schools, organizations, businesses are making fast decisions. In this case these fast decisions could also be called “panic” and when panic exists there’s not telling where it could all lead. The next 2-8 weeks could determine what the economy looks like for the next 2-8 years. I’m not concerned about getting sick at all but I am concerned with what the people that fear getting sick will do to the rest of us.

I couldnt help but notice that while several countries have very similar “reported” cases of Covid-19, the death rates were dramatically different and in a way I wouldnt have expected.
Example: These were reported cases and deaths a couple days ago:
Italy roughly 9000 cases – nearly 500 deaths
Iran roughly 8000 cases – 300 ish deaths
South Korea roughly 7500 cases – 50 ish deaths.
USA roughly 750 cases – 27 deaths. one-tenth the number of cases as South Korea, but half of their number of deaths? Hmm.

I would have thought that Italy would be on the opposite end of that, but that could be naive of me.
What can be determined by the death rates if anything? Are the populations of South Korea healthier hence a better recovery rate? Better health care? Nothing can be determined?

The only thing that can be determined is how many tests a country is actually doing and how they are classifying a confirmed case.

Here we have a serious issue with how many tests are available. Last week we were only testing people with known contact with the virus. That was incredibly irresponsible considering the implications. We had less than 200 people last week and I’m betting it’ll more than 2000 by Friday. Mainly because we weren’t testing people.

Italy has a large population of older people. I read the average age of covid19 deaths is about 81 there. South Korea has been testing a lot so they have found more cases. Here I suspect there are more cases here than reported.

Has the little fat guy in North Korea ever told the truth? Ever?

Not really, but to be fair he hasn’t spent THAT much time in North Korea. I think he spends most of his time at Mar-a-Lago.

I’d probably refer to him as the little fat guy in Washington or Florida, otherwise I worry people won’t understand who you are referring to.

I bet this person in Anoka County and her family might disagree with your “Doctors”. BTW she is in Critical condition.

good article well worth the read, especially the very last paragraph:

“There are some who have said that this virus is only transmitted from the hand to the face and that’s simply not true. We have compelling data on influenza transmission, which this is just like the coronavirus in terms of ongoing transmission. And, frankly, hand washing may play some role in this, but not nearly as much as people think. It’s all about the air and the air you’re breathing”

You might want to hang around different doctors if that’s what they’re telling you.

And seriously, where did you hear this from?

Well the third confirmed case in now in my hospital, in critical condition. So I guess I will let you know just how this goes and how well we control the spread…..This one is in their 30s which is the part that has me a little nervous, however they aren’t sure if they had any pre-existing conditions.

Is this the person that was reported yesterday in Anoka County? Or is this a new one? Which would make it the 4th confirmed case.

I was just told UofM schools are on spring break right now and they have “extended” it into April.

Spring break for UMTC and UMD (this week) is extended 2 extra days, thru Tuesday. Crookston and Morris have classes thru Friday, then spring break next week.

Starting the 18th, there will be no in-person classes thru at least April 1. Classes will be held on-line/remotely. Those timelines will be re-evaluated over the next 2 week period. I would not be surprised to see it extended. All staff at campuses still required to show up for work as usual.

UW-Madison is online/remote starting after their spring break ends on the 22nd thru at least April 10th it was announced today also.
