They worked good the other night for perch. Tip with waxies or spikes.
December 7, 2018 at 6:47 am #1815730What size is the hook? Looks a little big but that could just be appearance. I’m thinking for open water.
December 7, 2018 at 7:58 am #1815746Those Z vibers are junk… send them to me and I will dispose of them properly free of charge!!!
basseyesPosts: 2493zooksPosts: 922December 7, 2018 at 3:15 pm #1815853I know Tom @t52s has a lot of experience using these micro or peanut crankbaits and likes them a lot, hopefully he’ll see this and chime in.
December 7, 2018 at 3:42 pm #1815860Z vibers are great! I have multiples in every color. They are very small and you need 2-3lb test to really work them effectively. Crappies and perch absolutely destroy them. They are even smaller than a #3RR. Work them like you would any other hardbait under the ice.
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559December 7, 2018 at 3:49 pm #1815865I’ve been looking at these a little but haven’t gotten any …yet. I’m thinking I may pick up four colors in the 1/16 ounce model and swap that single hook out for a nice light wire treble. I like the looks of this little guy for working suspended fish vertically and I think it would be a stellar bait for fishing , say, dock pilings or bridge pillars. I’m not too crazy about that single hook it comes with though. I don’t see it as a long cast/retrieve type of lure though for my purposes but it might be fine for someone else using it in that fashion.
The chartreuse bait shows the balls inside real nice. I have to take a closer peek at one in person, but I think maybe another shot or two can be slipped in thru a small hole drilled in the belly then sealed up with a drop of epoxy. Not sure if this will throw the balance off but would surely add some extra weight for vertical jigging.
I think for suspended under the ice crappies this would be a great jigging bait especially if that single hook is swapped out for a small treble. Tip one of the hooks with a small, lithe plastic tail or maybe a grub of some sort and work the lure a half foot above a suspended crappie and I think it would get hit.
I’ve got some Scheels credit so maybe tomorrow I go take a look see if they have these on hand yet.December 7, 2018 at 5:05 pm #1815889Ben, the designer behind Euro tackle has been at our ice fishing event the past few years. He is an awesome guy, makes great plastics, and those Z-vibers are very popular around Northern Iowa. Several different sizes available.
December 7, 2018 at 7:46 pm #1815919I just picked a few up last weekend from a local shop.I had never seen them or heard of them.I know the gentleman who owns the place and he said there the next big thing.I think we have all heard that.I am curious to get out and see if there as good as advertised.I am glad to see some of you have used them with some success.

I could not find any at fleet farm yesterday, but I did not ask either. After striking out at Scheels i ended up ordering from fish usa.

As mentioned, I’ll likelt swap out the single hook for a small treble and use them at dock or bridge pilings or on the fringe of sunken wood.
bigpikePosts: 6259December 9, 2018 at 9:39 am #1816238Won a whole pile of euro tackle stuff from the st. Croix ice fishing extravaganza a few weeks back. Haven’t used the cranks yet but the plastics are catching fish!
December 9, 2018 at 2:57 pm #1816286Did not think of checking there. They are like 5 miles from my house

I didnt see them in the store, they were represented at the ice show in the tent outside.
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559December 9, 2018 at 4:07 pm #1816298I will Don. We’ll be in the Twin Cities a few times after the holidays and I’ll be checking for availability up there. I love fishing the peanut baits and these appear to fall right in line with them.
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559December 9, 2018 at 4:33 pm #1816304Don….here’s a real crappie killer of a bait. I haven’t seen these in stores lately but then I haven’t really been on the hunt for them either. Its called a “Cicada”, maker ?. I have a dozen or so of them in different boxes and use them all year long when situations arise that let me without getting them snagged up.
The one here in the picture is about 1 1/8″ long and weighs in at 1/8 ounce. They’re built on a willow-leaf spinner blade and it takes very little to get the tail end to kicking. I tipped them with nothing.
I always did real well when I found suspended crappies under the ice hanging on the outside of a pile of brush….think the submerged portions of a beaver hut here. When I’d located a few suspended crappies I’d note depth of the highest mark and start fishing about ten inches higher. The crappies had no trouble at all rising up to hit. As I caught fish, I’d fish a little deeper and deeper until the bite quit. I didn’t have to reel a struggling fish thru others this way.
I’ve always had a thing for gold and purple for crappies so I carefully peeled a decal off the side of one of these baits in gold, the decal was red, then I transfered the decal to a piece of purple scale tape and cut out several exact copies for each side of the baits, then duded up a half dozen of the gold/purple. Killer bait. And not available in stores if I recall right. I have a couple of those re-makes yet. This silver/chartreuse shown is hot but so is the silver/rainbow trout pattern.
If you can find a couple of these I’d latch onto them.

They still do. I have some of the small ones and I must be doing something wrong…I could never get a consistent bite with them. I should pull em back out and see if my luck can change…

Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559December 10, 2018 at 3:44 pm #1816590I’ve been using the 1/8 oz zviber that came out this fall. A little bigger and weeds out the smaller fish. I’ve been a big fan of Euro Tackle stuff so far. The plastics have been great as well.
December 10, 2018 at 4:12 pm #1816596I’ve caught a lot of trout on cicadas. I’ve got about a dozen of them in various sizes.
