you have elk on your mind. Can’t wait to get out of my office and back in the hills where I belong. Probably need to wait until after 4th of July for most of the snow to melt in Colorado, but can’t wait to grab the camera and stalk more bedded bulls

Did anyone notice that Colorado figured out how to get another $81 out of us applying for an out of state big game licence.
We now need to purchase an out of state licence we would never use. This is also applies too just to get a preference point.
Bull elk license is over $725 now with this special licence.
This special licence also applies to all big game species.
We should do a reciprocity with our hunting here in WI. Stick it too all out of state hunters.
I love hunting in Colorado. Awesome times have been had by our group hunting there.
I’m thinking this has put the nail in the coffin for regular guys to afford it.
I’ve been there several times with the family out of hunting season, just vacationing and white water rafting. That was awesome as well.
We don’t think we’ll be supporting CO as much in the future. The feeling is they don’t want us there with the price increase again this year.
Wyoming this year, antelope.

Its BS, but as a non-resident its either go along or don’t apply. Since I already carry Colorado licensees, I’m exempt. However, y daughter has to buy a small game or whatever the cheapest one is. We put in for pnts on elk, deer, prongs,…so the lottery costs her.
Where my biggest gripe on non-resident fees comes from is where I hunt. I very seldom hunt state land. Almost all the time I am on NATIONAL land. If I were to hunt State Land, I would be willing to pay a higher fee for the use of that State’s land. But WE already own federal land and I’m a resident of the United States. Their argument is the State manages the elk herd – well, it doesn’t cost anything different to manage for resident or non-resident.

Are you not a WI resident?

We only hunted Federal land also. Are you saying a nonresident cannot hunt state land in CO?
March 18, 2019 at 10:37 am #1844050I don’t want to put words in Randy’s mouth, so if I’m wrong correct me, but I think he’s getting after the idea that federal land is held in trust for the whole American public, whereas state land is held for the citizens of that state. Ideally, we wouldn’t be paying the state (or at least not as much) to hunt federal land.
I primarily hunt in Wyoming, but I’m mostly on the Shoshone National Forest… I’d definitely prefer that my license fees were applied to forest service management rather than general state management… but I can’t complain (Wyoming is rather affordable).

NO
Since I already have a small game or large game non res for CO, I don’t pay the added fees for the Draw applications.
I’m opposed to paying a non-resident fee when I’m hunting land the WE already own nationally.
I have no issue with a state getting a non-res feew if/when you hunt on state land
