Got the e-mails for the two stores closer to me as well… not much on details, but looks like they are potentially starting slow.
BrewerPosts: 61March 23, 2017 at 4:20 pm #1683411Has anyone been to the store? Are the deals worth going to check out?
March 23, 2017 at 4:48 pm #1683414Wow. I am saddened. First Sportsman Warehouse and now this. I have been spoiled with all the choices over the years. Back to Mills and Joe’s.

Is sportsmans warehouse closing?

All the minn stores including Woodbury did several years ago.
March 23, 2017 at 7:44 pm #1683448Will they really offer good deals on popular items? Why wouldn’t they just move the popular items to the stores they aren’t closing?
March 23, 2017 at 8:13 pm #168345520% on fishing, 30% on ice fishing, most everything else 10% off. This was the store in Rogers.
March 23, 2017 at 8:21 pm #1683459Stopped in at the St. Cloud store to check out the 15% off Sale. Surprise, the three things I went to check out…out of stock or didn’t carry. They must not be moving inventory up here.

Ankeny, IA still open. Slow business though.
March 23, 2017 at 10:19 pm #1683481The Guide isn’t closed.
DTPerhaps never will. Strictly catalog or “online” sales they call it now. No brick and mortar stores and the overhead and expenses that can saddle that business model…obviously! Have been a loyal customer of Sportsmans Guide for a long time now.
Sportsmans Warehouse I forgot all about. They evidently closed up without my noticing. Too bad also, I remember going there years back and getting some goodies.deertrackerPosts: 9237March 24, 2017 at 12:17 am #1683503There is still a Sportsmans Guide store in SSP that you can go in. They just remodeled.
DTMarch 24, 2017 at 8:22 am #1683537GM continues to frustrate.
Stopped at Rogers store last night to use up Xmas gift cards.
– Tried to buy a Crosman pellet gun… SKU mixup – higher price than GM online store price. Wouldn’t budge.
– Tried to buy a fishing license… Rogers doesn’t have licenses
– Tried to use a Xmas gift card that has been sitting for a couple (or more) years….. said can’t read the card. Said they have no way of knowing if I picked it up off the ground someplace.. The card has my sister’s handwriting “Merry Xmas” on the back. Good golly.
-That’s when I walked out…… will use the remaining gift card at EP or Blaine store and write GM off…..

Being the company is in bankruptcy stage, there is no reason to expel the resources needed to move product to another store.
March 24, 2017 at 8:44 am #1683549i’d imagine whatever Marine electronic stock the closing stores had was moved to stores not closing right away… no reason to lose 20% on items you know will sell for full price at a non-closeout store…for those who’ve been to the closing store deals, have you noticed any available stock of Humminbird Helix or Lowrance Gen3 electronics?
Just trying to help those looking for a deal, I made out like a bandit this year on a few of the Gander clearance sales…The recent $20 off $50 purchase was awesome!
March 24, 2017 at 8:53 am #1683555Not to change the subject, but I assume the Gander bankruptcy is a restructuring? I saw they are opening a new store in Iowa and all of the FLA stores are not on the chopping block. I am a little surprised that the one blocks from my house survived with a Academy Sports being opened across the street.
I was going to Academy, but I am now deciding that Gander has a far better selection and layout.
I wish there was a BP closer. They opened a new one in Daytona, but that is still a 45 minute drive and not worth it unless I am really opening up the wallet.
March 24, 2017 at 10:09 am #1683575Just got back. All popular items 10%. 20-30% on everything else. Definitely worth going while inventory is high. No more fishing licenses.

The St. Cloud store isn’t closing, but….they don’t carry any HDS touch screens. They may have had a Helix 9 SI g2n. Not sure if it was a g2n. Either way, nothing larger than a 9″.
March 24, 2017 at 11:30 am #1683609Sounds like the deals are pretty weak at this point, but if you wait for better deals all the good stuff will be picked over.
I would want to see 50% before I get excited.March 24, 2017 at 11:43 am #1683613I’ll miss Gander in Woodbury, if only because it at least offered some variety and a backup source for products in case I needed some on short notice.
But with that said, I’m probably more of the “problem” then the “solution” because I buy so many hunting/fishing goods online from small, super-specialized websites.
