    Hello All,

I got into ice fishing over the last two years, and I LOVE fishing with tip-downs. However, I don’t own any myself. I thought it would be fun to build a couple, so that I always have a few to put out. Any idea / sources on where I can get the wood-handled ones? I know Schooley’s sells the plastic ones, but, to be 100% honest, I prefer the aesthetics of the wood handle.

    Thanks!

I bought a Rip City combo at Fleet Farm several years ago. It’s my favorite rod, and I have four Thorne Bros rods. I looked to see if they were still available, but there’s only one offshore site selling a lot of six. May show up on eBay from time to time. Best handle IMO.

Here are the first jig sticks I ever used for walleye ice fishing.
    They still work.

Wood handle are easy to make on a lathe. If you don’t have a lathe get a chunk of wood and drill a hole thru the center. Go to Rockler on their class / demo day and try out theirs.

Wood handles are next to metal handles for warmth on ice rods.

I enjoy making a few. No real reason other than I think they look cool and they’re fun to make
