Wolf Attack in Wisconsin

A cloud of hot #6 or 7.5 shot would almost certainly be enough to persuade a wolf to look elsewhere for dinner. In the case of an actual attack where the distance would be measured in feet, even a sub-bore shotgun has enough of a punch to seriously dampen a wolf’s enthusiasm.

But the reality is that wolves are out there in significant numbers now and attacks will happen. The Boy Scout motto applies.

I started carrying my .357 years ago after my dog came running back to me while grouse hunting she would not go into that area and walked behind me wimpering. We have jumped and she has chased bears and is not afraid of them. SO I suspected wolves or sasquatch was out there LOL. Since that day I have seen lots of wolf sign and always am aware and have my sidearm even cutting wood or a walk in summer. Grouse’s Boy scout motto is to be applied.

I respect his comment that “we are in their living room…” but that doesn’t mean we can’t protect ourselves. We all know this is EXTREMELY rare for a wolf to act like this but it can happen…

Wolves are a necessary part of the ecosystem of our outdoors but bottom line is Wisconsin has TOO many. More of these attacks are inevitable with the number of wolves in our state. With no hunting season they will lose their fear of humans. JMO
