Got out on Prior for the first time this year last Thursday. People were starting to bring out larger houses, USE CAUTION!! We were finding spots with only 6 Inches of good ice and alot of snow ontop.

This was a day where persistence payed off. We tried 5 different areas before finding some fish to sit on. The first 4 were filled with tight lipped dink sunfish. At our final spot we drilled holes from 6 ft out to 16ft of water and worked a glow demon jigging spoon tipped with a minnow head. The perch were hammering the presentation sitting just off the bottom. Overall a very successful day as I gained alot more knowledge of this lake. Caught close to 20 good size perch and kept a few for dinner!

Great report, I’m going to try and get out there this week. Have to get my fishing in before the big snow storm this weekend.

Did you get a length on any of those fish?

Never got a length, didn’t even think about it. I agree though you don’t normally see people bringing in perch on prior, defiantly not what we were planning on targeting. Saw alot of smaller perch holding close to the bottom in other spots as well, may be its a young population.

    Nice fish, Chad!

    Get the Eskimo running better?
