It was a slushy mess at my cabin in Cumberland, Wi. There was about 3 inches of good ice under the snow/slush. There were spots that looked bare (no snow), that is where the slush had already started to freeze. Most of these areas you would break through the top crust. The spots that were still covered with snow had 4 – 6 inches of slush under the snow. Who knows how long these areas will take to freeze? I’m guessing it will be a while before we get a good consistent ice thickness.
I would guess Cumberland had 12 – 14 inches of snow. Most of the metro area had quite a bit more than this. I’d be surprised if the metro area was any better that what we had in Cumberland.
