I am meeting a buddy there after work, if it isn’t too windy, to fish for whatever we can catch. Hopefully walley or bass. We have never fished it before and don’t know anything about it. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Lots of panfish and bass. There are walleye, but not a lot. On the flip side, some of the walleye are huge, like a 32″ fish that was caught next to me a couple years ago.

Be prepared to fish the weeds, that will be your best bet for just about anything.

go anywhere and catch sunfish. YOu can try trolling the deep weed edeges with shadraps there are quite a few pike in there and we’ve had a decent year so far with that technique… you’re looking for the depth zone right around 12 ft. Also vertical jigging light jigs on the points of bays in around 18ft of water produces crappies every now and then. there’s not a lot of size in that lake but the fish are abundant.

    hope this helps

Thanks, we ended up a few miles west of there fishing a smaller lake with less wind. We managed a few bass. I’m sure we will try Marion sometime though.

I have a long weekend and am looking to hit somewhere local. The rivers look like a disaster, so I might have to find a lake. Does Marion or Orchard have any restrictions? Motors? Times? Etc?

If a guy just wants to troll some weedlines, what is the best bet? Is there a better lake to target within 20 miles of Eagan?
