After all said and done I had a chance to head out this evening and do some pitching around. Was working 3-4 fow on the north end of a lake with some current to it. Fatboys and gulp minnows and fish frys took them today. The gills were everywhere, the crappies, well not so much. Not tank fish by any means but the key was certainly getting light rigs out as far away as possible. The BlackRock rod did it’s job just fine. Even with a bit of the breeze I was able to make a nice low snap and send that bait out as far as I needed to get out.

    Gear Used Today
    Blackrock 9 foot
    Shimano Sahara
    4# Transoptic
    Thill Mini Super Shy Float
    Lindy Fatboys
Gulp! Alive Fish frys and Minnows

By all means dont put away the ice boxes yet. They still certainly have a place. I dont know what it is but there is just something fun about spring and putting on waders or rubber boots and walking shorelines and pitching to pannies.

BTW heres a few before and after pics. I had no idea how hard it was to get a gill to sit straight to become famous. So I ate him.

And I would say he deserved it.

Thanks for the report Chris. Any ideas on water temps on the lakes yet? Hope to get the Jon boat back together this week and go check out some spots just north of town.

high 40s in that spot. Id imagine by the time I get back out there the crappies should be fairly close chowing down.
