What the hell is happening around here?
I put my house out on Sunday night, and by Monday afternoon, it was already broke into. Broke out the windows and the door.
I found several others out there is the same condition. Mass destruction. Not sure what was taken at this point. Just broken doors and windows. Glass everywhere.
We all need to work together and catch these little monkeybutts.

I’ll never understand why people do this. We used to just leave them open on Forest Lake but then they started to tear apart the inside.

I don’t get it either……if it doesn’t belong to you, leave it the hell alone. Absolutely senseless – my blood pressure rose 20 points just reading this post.

Took his 7yr old out fishing ran back to town for a bathroom for the kid wasn’t gone 10 min. came back and ALL his stuff was gone. wiped out in 10 friggen min. I’m getting him some gear around to have as I don’t get on the ice anymore. just sucks can’t trust your stuff for 10 min.

Years ago when my dad had his house out on Forest Lake it would get broken into all the time. He decided to leave it open and just take everything out each time. Next time out he found a big pile of crap on the floor, luckily it was frozen at that point and he kicked it out the door. Sold the house, and went to portable after that.

On Isabel it used to be that if you left your house up they would burn it for ya. Thats why you never see perms up on here. no one wants to take the chance.

utterly ridiculous. I use to have a really nice permanant shack loaded with all the amenities on lake mendota but sold it for fear that some a-hole would destroy the thing. I just don’t get it.

That is sad. These have to ruin it for everyone. I was thinking about getting a permanent but I think I’ll just upgrade the portable after hearing all the stories.

Same thing happened to me on Bald Eagle. No more perm houses for me. Wheelhouse maybe, perm no way!

Sorry to hear about you & the others. Hope they make a mistake & get caught. I just don’t get why some have to trash others stuff.

I better alert the brother who has one on Centerville…if it ain’t too late. Not that it is going to matter I suppose.

His son, my nephew, already had his shack in Ely broken into.

Sorry to hear about that. I think it would be tough to have a house on a metro lake for this reason. Lock it up and it will get vandalized. Leave it open and it will get trashed or used as someone out house. It is a shame.

We were at a local lake the other night and found something rather wierd. We pulled up and started to unpack when another car pulled up and two people got out, all they were carrying was a bolt cutter and they proceeded to walk out onto the ice. For safety reasons I took down there license plate number just incase we heard of houses getting broken into out there.

Here’s a novel idea…….you want to catch the little monkeybutts literally…..epoxy some good sharp 4/0 – 5/0 fish hooks to areas you suspect they would have to touch to break in you’ll either find your fish on the end of your hook or their skin with plenty of blood…….Good Hooksets….”Hairjig”

Only problem with that if you purposely put something in place that might injury someone you are liaible for the injury and you could be charged. Even if they were doing an unlawful act. Equate it to setting up a shotgun to go off when your front door is opened. You will be in bigger trouble than the perps. Sucks…I know…
