First metro ice report.

Well not so much of a report as I was only out for about 45 minutes. Tried one of my favorite metro puddles and found safe ice that was 4-5 inches thick. No cooperative fish wanted to eat our plastics though. This particular lake had open water last Friday so it’s at least a good sign that things are freezing up quickly. Make sure to bring along all of your safety items if you choose to head out soon. I’m sure most of the medium to larger sized metro lakes still have very sketchy and unsafe ice. Good Luck and be safe!

Plenty of open water on Independence in Medina.

So… how’d it feel?! I’m spinning in circles going nuts to get out on the ice!

Thanks for the report. Someone had to be first here in the metro.

It felt cold! Just a quick little walk out trip with no shelter. Hopefully have something to report on Saturday as this little tiny lake produces some large early season panfish.

Is that the little metro gem that kicked out that 12+” behemoth bluegill last year?

Best bite is between 1:00-4:00. Dead sea after dark.

Yeah, by looking at the color of the ice, I thought the lake looked familiar (metro lake x).

Looking out my window (office) it appears that Wayzata Bay froze over last night.
