Has anyone been out on De Montreville or Olson lately? I was out there earlier this year and the channel was pretty shallow. Is it still navigable? To those who may have been out recently how has the action been? I’ll probably be heading there early next week.

I was out there last Friday. The fish are still there but the lake is way down. The channel between the two lakes is almost unusable. I snuck though carefully with the electric motor but I don’t think that’s going to work mush longer. I over heard a few guys talking about Jane, I didn’t see this myself but apparently the access oe there is very shallow and tough to use right now too.

A couple of friends of mine went there yesterday (Monday)and did very well. Like Rootsi said the channel to Olsen is nearly impassible. As far as Jane the launch is nearly impossible to use. I went there a couple of weeks ago and my boat dragged the bottom of the lake off the end of the dock. About 4-5″ deep. Had to push out using an oar to get the boat to float. I will be trying it again Friday morning and can post my results after words. Hopefully good.

Stayed home. To cold & windy to try and fight my way on and off the launch Friday, might try Saturday if it settles down. Don’t want to rescrew up my knee , it’s just starting to feel pretty good.

Coontail and cabbage are still in good shape on D despite the extremely low water-you won’t get anywhere near the cattails. Some of the docks that are still in the water hold large bucketmouths, thanks to the CAR rules. They seem to be wising up to the more common lures but are suckers for nite crawlers and panfish rigs. Speaking of which, the 2005 lake report that mentions above average size punkinseeds holds true…the hybrid bluegill size is nothing to brag about but they are really scrappy and you can count coups on lots of bass of all sizes by going lite.
Be sure to put your panfish immediately on ice in the boat if you want a tastey meal…and remember to let the big ones live! The bar at the powerlaunch scourhole will require some extra time comminngoin.
DNR aquatics had a college girl out there last week reading a book in a lawn chair up in the parking lot who didn’t even bother to check us. Pulled a lot of greenies off the trailer, props, etc. without help. (Hope we didn’t distrub her rest.) How much these people make an hour not to do their job or even pick up the litter in the lot???
