Best bet for spring crappies – Chisago area lakes?

    Looking for input on Chisago area lakes for spring crappie fishing. Fished a couple of the lakes for bass in mid summer like south lindstrom and Chisago, but never any
    mid to late April fishing for big slab crappies. Any favorite lakes?
    I see Kroon sometimes listed for ice fishing. any decent sizes? how about north and south center or green? thanks

    Chisago and Lindstrom get hit hard but do pump out numbers of crappies every year. 3 to a pound stuff. Green has special regs that are starting to show promise. Currently a 9 inch minimum on crappie.

    For the last 2 years we have done better on White Bear. Fishing emergent weeds in 6-10 feet right out from the ramsey access.

    Any of the Chisago area lakes have a good population of crappies, but with pressure the size is not quite slab worthy. A ton of fun for the kids!
