prior was good on saturday afternoon.. i was out there from 11 – 2ish. the pannies were stacked from 2-10 feet up in in 25fow. i tried to stay away from the villages too..
i pulled out some monster gills… i wish i had a pic for you cuz these bulls had some shoulders!
Chief…Sorry the report is taking so long , but I had to get my thoughts put back together after such a long adventure on Saturday !
The bite was very slow for the Walters; as I kind of thought it would be. We setup on the deep edge of a point that had very little pressure; and made swiss cheese out of the area in a matter of minutes! We set tip-ups along the edge in all different depths, and moved them often to no avail ! We spent the entire afternoon, evening, and early night hole-hopping in different depths trying to locate the fish. Long story longer we jumped into the house for the last couple hours to set-up a couple bobbers, and do some jigging. We missed a couple of good bites, and lost something about half way up that we never saw. It fought like a walleye, but I guess we’ll never know.
And that is exactly why I don’t spend a lot of time fishing the metro lakes ! Let me know what you are thinking of for that trip to Mille Lacs; that is my kind of fishing !
Boo to the Prior outing. You gave it a shot though. My wife is heading off to the Pacific Northwest to visit her sister in March. Her sister will have a new baby by then. Yup… they are both preggers. I’m not sure on teh dates, but I’m thinkin late ice on Mille Lacs.
