not looking for anyone to divulge any secrets, but i could use some help. but i have plans to meet a few out of town friends out on tonka. where do the masses fish? im not big on being part of a shack village, but it would help to at least have a clue where to start from as ive never fished the lake before.

oh yeah, theres gonna be kids, so size isnt all that important to me. im looking for panfish in bigger numbers to get/keep them interested in the sport.

Phelps bay is always a good bet for panfish. For sunnies during the day look for 10 to 12 ft depths. Try to get on a green weed line. You can catch ’em all day long. I key on inside turns and saddles and humps. For crappies at night look for 24 to 28ft depth. Lot of houses in those areas though.

its been a few weeks now and i had to report on my tonka trip. we ended up hitting carsons bay. theres a few houses out there and we found some nice crappies suspended in 24fow.

we’ve had our best luck after sundown. ive been out there a handful of times in the last week now, we’ve managed to pull some crappies that break the 12″ mark. being that this was my first season on tonka, i was pleasently surprised!

i wish i had a few pics for you, but im sure i will be out there again soon and ill try to remember my camera!
