Has anyone been out on Big Marine this last weekend? I am just wondering how the ice thickness is doing and if there are any thin spots to watch out for. I am hoping to get out this Friday and walk out from the N launch or the new Washington County launch

i haven’t been out there but I know forest lake has about 6 inches. I would imagine that big marine will have the same.

Got out to Big Marine yesterday and went out of the north public landing and got to try out my new (to me) tools (strikemaster lazer auger, LX-5, lure lightning, a couple new spring bobber rods). Anyway, there was 8″ of really good ice and wheelers and snowmobiles were running pretty much all over. Wasn’t fast and furious by any means but did manage some pike on large shiners with tip ups and then some perch and gills on various jigs with eurolarva. Let them all go to swim another day and it was just great to get out again.

Back when my boys were really young, we would go out there with tip ups along the weedbed going north and south of where you speak. We would put out a good line of tip ups, and I would read the Sunday paper in the truck while they would have snowball fights and tire each other out. We used to do pretty well! I may have to try that again! I would love some pike!

Was out there Saturday morning with buddy. Caught a lot of small crappies. They were hitting rat finkees pink head white body. Really crappie minnows and or waxies did the trick. We were on the north side in 24 foot of water. Ice was 8 inches in all the holes we drilled.
