Plenty of action Friday night on Tonka and finally some larger fish. Hit an underwater hump connected by a saddle to a shoreline point (that might clue a few of you in to exactly where I was I set up a little shallower than normal on a 15ft deep shelf and the crappies kept coming all night. Pink head/white body #6 Ratso was far and away the go to bait. Minnow on a deadstick was exactly that – dead. A few vigorous jigs with the Ratso would call the crappies in and then it was just a little twitch and a rise to seal the deal. Daytime Saturday I hit a smaller lake as Tonka was just covered by shelters. Reminded me of Pool 4 on a warm Saturday in March! The ballgame there was suspended crappies and a lot of hole hopping to stay on them. Had about 50 holes drilled along the edge of a 30ft basin. Would mark fish, catch three or four and then move to find them again. The crappies were suspending at 20ft and not hesitatant at attacking the falling jig. Pink/white Ratsos and Customs Jigs Diamond jig tipped with exactly two waxies were the ticket.
