Looking to possibly fish West Rush lake up by Rush City. Not really targeting a specific species to start off but would like any information specific to the lake if you have it!?

    Bass? Pike? Eyes? Skis?

Are you stating that the lake is unusually shallow or that fish right now are sitting in the shallows? I love a challenge!

It is a dirty water lake. Weedline is about 4-5 ft. There is at least one 50″ class muskie with my crankbait in its mouth. Lots of fair sized pike(kill em all) and a good bass population.

Its a nice lake to fish. Quality fish, variety of cover and good structure.

The water is still pea soup green as of last weekend.
The level has dropped about 14″-18″ since spring.
Be careful going over any points the other danger spots all have buoys to mark them.

I don’t have much advise except the crappies are in 15′ or deeper now. There have been bass tourneys the last 3 weeks in a row.

    Good luck fishing,

As of 10-22, still pea soup. Fished East and West on 10-22. Never saw a fish. Trolled, casted, shallow, deep, weeds, etc. Lots of bait on the edges. Anyone having any good results on Rush?

oh yeah, its super shallow. no buoys left and one could very, very easily wreck a boat. i beached my boat out there earlier this yr in 1 fow. its even lower now. i nailed something real hard on 10-22 but fortunately didnt do any damage. probably a dead head.

Rush was like pea soup this year? Anyone know if they spray for weeds in the lake? I know knife lake gets sprayed and I am going to petition them to stop. I’d rather see milfoil than a layer of algae like oil on top of the water. My theory is that when they spray the weeds, the nutrients, mostly phosphorus and nitrates from nearby farmland, go straight to the algae as there are no weeds to filter it. The lake has always had algae, but the last 2 years it’s been a thick, florescent green. That can’t be good for the oxygen levels.

On a side note, in lakes like this if you can find eel grass, you’d find fish. Whatever they spray, eelgrass appears to be immune.
