Anyone even fishing the Metro latley? Haven’t seen anything in a while. Or is everyone just having that much luck that there is no time to type?

I’ve been too buried at work and at home to get out much lately.

I would assume the bass should be hitting the deeper weedlines, as well as the muskies too, with these warmer temps.

Ive been buried in work around the house, and a small mountain of medical issues that has to be taken care of.

I will do all I can to try to jump on some metro water sometime very soon!

I strongly encourage others to speak their mind when it comes to the metro. The more people talk about these waters, the more interest regulars and lurkers alike will generate… in the end, it will lead to more information for all.

I know the pike have been very hit or miss. Or as my friend likes to remind me as he was able to get out last night with out me I miss the bite! they all seem to be in about 20 FOW as usuall hitting on joined Shad raps. I keep hoping that one of these times I’m accidently going to hook into a Muskie to break that 40″ mark.

Also not sure what I’m doing wrong because I’ve been doing alot of trolling lately of cranks, and even leeches and worms, and I can’t manage to find the Walleyes.

Was out on ‘Tonka yesterday. Didn’t have much luck, but we did catch a couple fish. I hope to write a report over lunch tomorrow.

The Bass are hitting topwaters early in the morning, over the weed tops as well as right up on the bank. Last Saturday I had one of my best big-fish days ever. Warm weather and top water bassin’

I fished Tonka recently. The fish are feeding like nuts. They are absolutely gorging themselves on bluegills and crawdads. The fish’s guts look like they are ready to spawn. I hooked a bass in the tongue so I kept it in the livewell with some rejuvenade for a while. Later when I went to release it I found 4 sunnies and a crawdad in the livewell.

Like Rootski and others noted, the bass are pissed off at the topwater baits. I found that I wanted to keep ’em moving to get that explosive blowup. The hits are the kind that make you giggle…

I’ve been fishing Waconia lately for bass. I’ve been finding a lot of fish, but not many large fish. A year ago I was getting numbers and size, this year it’s mostly numbers. I’ve been fishing the deep weedlines.

I also have gotten out on Waconia a handful on times. I have not been getting much for numbers but the size has been pretty good. got most of the fish on the inside turns of the weedlines. The biggest bass this year on this lake is 20.5 with another 19. THe rest of the fish have been in the 14-17′ range. I have tried the deeper weed lines but have come up very empty.
Jim K, How deep are you talking?

    Hey Dan,

14-17″ is what I’ve been getting, with just a handful of 17’s. Last year I was getting 14-20″. I’ve been fishing more points than pockets. I’ve been usually hovering in 16′ of water casting towards 4′ points with my fish coming from around 12′. Maybe, mid-range depths would be a more accurate statement for me.

a couple of weekends ago while i was out there fishing a tourney, I managed to find alot of fish in the shallow hard bottoms along a milfoil wall. I was tossing a baby minus -4 white and gray and they would explode out of the side of milfoil and strike at that crank, could’t get them to come back out after they missed. so maybe go and look along some hard sandy or rocky bottoms and fish the inner and outer weed lines. also you might want to fish them inner weed lines with a texas rigged senko or tube, fish them slow, let that bait stir and settle in that sandy bottom. also sighted alot of bigger fish, not sure what size, but they where cruzing the hard bottom and then back into the weeds when the shadow of the boat came into view. we set up deep and casted shallow and worked the baits that way through both the outer and inner at the same time. I also tried some jig-n-pigs, a camo color and a black-n-blue, no takers on them, all my fish where caught cranking baby minus-4 and a -1 over the top. hope this helps someone, I know it didn’t help me that weekend of the tourney, but then I didn’t take the time to fish them spots like I would have liked to, had the rush on to get both limits and then look for kicker fish.

been finding the muskies, are liking a sloooowwwww troll with a small presentation ( that may or may not be jointed ) in the shallows 10-15 FOW Best part is I haven’t even been targeting them but I’m not complaining that’s for sure!
