Has anyone been out on White Bear in the last week and what is the lake level doing? Last time I looked, it was a long way from the ramp to the water.

Fished WBL last night in fishing league and it definitely is at the lowest level that I’ve ever launched. I estimate water level at about 1 to 2 feet below normal. All boats were able to launch successfully, but you needed to back in a ways. Loading was best served by cranking rather than power loading. It’s a bit shallow, so caution around the launch is wise.

Also witnessed a boat go ramming through the reef directly out from the launch. I don’t think he realized how shallow it was. I believe his Johnson will need some TLC now…

Thanks for the update Dave. Between trying to find water and watchin wrecks, did you catch any fish?

Yup, caught about 25 fish in 3 hours. Our boat was trolling and casting for Pike. Of the 25 fish, I think the count was something like 15+ pike, 6 bass, 1 crappie, and 1 rock bass. Unfortunately most were on the small size. Everything went back in the water except the crappie (wanted a fresh fish to eat). Best lures were Rapala DT6, DT10 and Fat Rap (can’t remember what size). Hot colors were silver, fire tiger, and grey crawfish/chart. Also caught a few pike slow trolling a pike minnow rig.

Sounds like fun to me. Thanks for the report. If I can get out of some stuff, maybe I can go fishing.

sure wish someone would have told me that before I went and fished there a few weeks back, tried to power load my boat, took some good chunks out of the prop.
