Next weekend going up to Waconia where my daughter lives. For the past three years about this time, we have gone to Lake Waconia and rented a boat/motor from Inn Towne Marina.
We have gone to the northwest corner reeds near what they call the steeple/lone huge pine tree and caught several bluegills. Action was fast with mini-mites tipped with a waxworm but the size was disappointing/small.
Can anyone provide some advise for a chance at better sized gills and maybe some bonus crappies? We only keep 10 to eat, everything else gets tossed back.
I have a map of the lake and the resort owner did point out some of the bays and reefs. However, being unfamiliar with the lake, we fell on bad habits and went to where at least we knew we could get some bites.
Time to expand and explore. Just need a nudge in the right direction.
