Not like the start of the walleye season is a big thing, been fishing them all year long, but…

Anyone going out at the crack of midnight? I actually got out for a couple hours today, got to thinking it may be fun to actually be on the water come midnight. Not sure where we’ll go, if we actually go, Probably Prior lake, maybe I’ll venture out to the dead sea (Marion) Never caught much of any walleye there, but it’s close to the house

You don’t have to say what lake you’ll be on if you don’t want to.

Every year we say we are going out at midnight. This year, the weather might cooperate. It’s kind of hard to get up the ambition to get on the water in 40 degree temps and usually rainy(last 3 years or so). But it looks like it is going to be beautiful this Friday at midnight and we might actually get out.

I’ll be out in the morning somewhere in town keeping Tyler(son) busy for a little while.. it will be his 1st opener which may not be a huge thing to him because he has little respect for anything but catfish

I’ll likely have him throw a spinner bait around some weeds for a while, and if that doesnt work(or too dangerous), I’ll pull some shad raps around until something bites for him.

I will be on pool 2 for opener. Not much need to head out at midnight as it should be a day bite for walleyes. Most years there is only a couple of rigs at the landing also.

    Good luck guys.

Well I haven’t decided fully yet, probably just going to go waste some time on Marion, I’d like to head out to prior, but that may be more “zoo” like Chances are I’ll be the only one on Marion. I know there are ‘eyes in there, this far I’ve only seen a few and all of them small, but dong the lake is close to me I can’t resist it

Well I got out as planned, not nearly as early asI would’ve liked, two other boats on the lake, didn’t get a chance to talk to anyone. Caught one bullhead (over 7 inches) and that’s it, seemed to be marking a lot of fish, but I couldn’t get them going spend most of my time on the outside weededge, maybe I should’ve tried shallower more. No big deal nice night out there, still learned some more about the lake.

Kind of suprised, I pulled off at 2am, when I got home, I decided I wasn’t that tired, to a took a drive around the other local lakes, I was suprised to see very few boats out, Spring had like 5 boats out on it, prior probably a dozen between the two launches.

Only fishing I have done this opener was an extension of catfishing last night.. off the river at about 2 this morning. Tyler has the flu.. so we will have to have our *father/son* opening day sometime in the near future.

I might make time to watch a lighted bobber this evening semi-localy.. Or I might just go catch some more 7″ bullheads and go catfishing again!

Decisions, decisions.. I really lost abition on chasing varieties of toothy critters when te kid couldnt be involved quite yet.
