4-30 shore fishin’ pool 1

My pal the Serpent and I got out for about an hour or so tonight. He was fishin’ fer carp and I figgerd I’d try and get my first catfish of the year…End result no carp, two channel cats, and the residue of some idiotic fishermen. After fishing with smelt for Lakers and big northerns on the north shore I decided to give them a try for catfish… was pleasantly suprised by the results for a short time fishing. Here’s a couple pics of some smelt lovin’ channel cats…..small one was about 2 Lbs., big one a little over 5. Can’t complain for the first attempt this year.

Nice channels! I am glad to see that area is starting to produce. It looks like the fish are moving into their summer patterns.

As for the dead carp.. There are no shortage of slobs on the river banks. I wouldnt miss it if I didnt have to run into piles of dead fish, and bait and tackle packages laying all over the shorelines usually in close proximity to the rotting fish.
