Made my way to my favorite crappie hole yesterday and they were snapping to say the least. Talked to some family members before heading out who said it had been real slow all week.(Grandpa is a retired farmer so he fishes everyday now) Well, I got there and got set up and they started biting instantly and they bit all day. Fishing really isn’t that bad in the rain if the fish are biting. Well, there were 3 different sizes of fish we caught throughout the day. The biggest ones were longer than the diameter of a 5 gallon bucket and I only kept one of them, I had to show one to Grandpa. The next size down were about 11 inches and they were plentiful. Then there were some smaller ones that went back to grow for another year. Tear drops tipped with a crappie minnow or fathead about 1 foot under a bobber in about 3 feet of water around a fallen tree and a dock did the trick. Color of jig and type of minnow didn’t matter at all. Now for the bonus fish of the day. My buddy caught a bass that went 20.5 inches and was fat as could be. Thankfully an uncle had a camera with. So we snapped a quick picture and back to be caught another day the big girl went. I am waiting for him to email me pictures and I will post as soon as I get them.
