Main lake water temps 45 to 47. North coves/small bays 50 to 52. Did the milk run and found crappies biting in 2 of my spots – the other 2 held a lot of bass and small sunnies but no crappies. Plenty of action once I found them. They wanted it small and shallow. Power minnows did zip but Culprit paddletails and Exude micro shads cleaned up. Best presentation was 1ft down below a bobber pitched along docks although some bigger fish were caught along rock shorelines. Bonus fish of the night was a 22″ largemouth. Biggest crappie was 11″ most averaged 8″. Bite will get better this week so get out there.

Good shore fishing spots on Tonka are few and generally crowded. Plus I use the term “good” loosely. Grays Bay bridge area is the best area for actually catching fish followed by Black Lake in Spring Park. You’ll know where you can fish because there will a bunch of people already there. Stop in a Wayzata bait and maybe they can point you to some better options in the area.

Crappie bite is in full swing. Fish in every spot I hit last night and size has improved. Crappies were very aggressive and wanted the lure to be moving.

Ditto, Mark. Been getting my fish in the weeds b/n 6 and 10 feet. The crappies are hyper-aggressive.

We got 30-40 fish in the evening yesterday. 1 spot out of 5 payed off.. the wind was *just wrong*. Its hard to catch fish in tidal waves!

We got all of our fish on hair or feather jigs tipped with a crappie minnow under a float. Most of them wanted it just after it landed, or *popped*, others wanted it not to be moving at all. Chartreauce with a white head, or pink and white both did well.

I was out Friday afternoon, got five in Brown’s Bay. Pretty slow where I was. In one spot I could see the fish– they ignored minnows and plastics but a couple hit a piece of pink Gulp on a jighead.

Brought a couple of kids out yesterday, went out in Emerald. Caught about 40, ranging in all sizes. Kept about 20 for the frying pan. Tageted fallen trees and brush with plain hooks and minnows.
