Just wondering if anyone from the board will be fishing the Metro Muskie Tournament sat. I’m giving it a try for the first time and am really looking forward to it. Figure I’ve fished tournaments for walleye, bass, pike, crappie and salmon, might as well try muskies.

Good Luck! Hope you can find those mid/upper 40″ fish that have been hitting your tubes!

It’s a fun tourny, but I won’t be in it this year. The Metro does offer a variety of lake types, from the shallow weedy GREEN water lakes, to the deeper clear water lakes, and then there is Tonka that gives you both and everything in between. The smaller lakes seem to warm up faster, and the fish get more active, but these lakes are going to see the most pressure, so the fish will be getting spooky — You should have a great chance, it only takes one nice fish to win! Two is almost an automatic win.

Good luck, let us know how you do.

    Steve,

Thanks for the offer, but Tonka is not on the list of lakes. Below is the list. I hope to hit a couple Thur & fri to see if I can raise anything. I know I’m going to have some plastic tied on in case I see anything cruising shallow. Again, thanks for the offer!

    Bald Eagle
    Bryant
    Cedar (Scott Cty)
    Clear Lake
    Eagle (Henn Cty)
    Forest
    Independence
    Johanna
    Owasso
    Waconia
    Weaver
    White Bear

We weren’t able to hook up at all on saturday. We had 2 follows by sub legal fish and saw another cruising that we were unable to entice. We did see a mid 40″ fish cruising an outside weed edge, but she wouldn’t look at our offerings either. The biggest fish of the tourny did come off Eagle when a lady was able to boat a 48″ fish early. I only heard of 1 other sub legal caught on the lake however.

Thanks for the info Steve. Many of the fish we saw were in areas you suggested on lures you suggested. My 2nd best bait, especiall when shallow was a smaller purple/white/red bucktail with a gold blade. One of our follows and the sub legal caught came by the fishing pier.
