was on it last sun, the ice was about 18-19″ of solid ice.
as all ways there are plenty pan fish to catch in frount of the boat launch or to the right of the point of the boat launch. have fun with the kids terry hansen

I’d really like to mention I’d be careful on the main deep part of the lake, the area with the beach, there was a large area of open water for a long time this winter, I highly, highly doubt the is 18 inches there, Just use some caution if you are going to be on the deepest parts of the lake. Check the ice before you assume there is 18 everywhere.

If you are only looking for action and not size to have fun with kids, I would recommend Orchard. Orchards always seem to have a high concentration of sunnies. Just too bad they are all small.

But fish always seem to bite on Marion. Be mobile when drilling holes. The schools of sunfish stay tight on that lake. A guy can punch 50 holes, with each hole having 1 or 4 sunnies. Then on the 50th hole, you have 50 sunnies in a big school. An underwater camera will help find fish on the lake, if you got one. Water clarity is great!

Per dead weight’s pm…. In which he said

you can check where i was fishing then tell me how much ice there is. thanks

    I reply…

I didn’t say it wasn’t 18 where you were exactly, I just said to be careful, unless you got something against safety….

I live a block off the lake I seen how the condition of the ice was all year. The main part of the lake didn’t freeze over solid til late january, frankly telling people there is 18 inches of ice on the lake and impling it 18 inches every where is plain irresponsible.

I fished the main part of the lake early on there was 8-9 inches of good solid clear ice, a week and a half later it was wide open water.

Sure they may have been 18 inches where you where, I never doubted that.
