    Wow!
Busy lake yesterday! Looks like everyone was chasing those white crappies. Anyone here have any luck?

I swear, somewhere an auger could be heard running on the lake at any given SECOND!

We were chasing pike, but the big bass (2-5lbs) kept getting in the way of our tip-ups! All fish came on shiners.

I guess I should have shot some pics…..Never bothered to pull out the camera, as we were in search of those 10-15lb pike swimming in that lake.

Biggest pike was a bit over 30 inches and just not quite camera worthy. She was a fatty though!

We were truly impressed with the color of the bass! Great color on them! Very dark green and great black lateral line! They were quite chunky too!

The fish in Sarah seem to be feeding well this year!

Now, we just got to get “MetroMuskie” rigged up for tip-up fishing. I think he had more fun than anyone else chasing flags!

Sarah gives up a lot of nice bass, I just haven’t figured it out.

Gary, I’m heading to Sarah with a few first time ice fisherman and fisherwoman. I sent you a pm about what’s working now. Thanks.

    You asking me?
    HAH!!!!

I couldn’t find the pike when I went! I think they were running a bit deeper than what I was sitting in.

However, give it another week or two with this warmer weather and a guy just might find them shallow!!!

What really threw me a curve ball last week on Sarah is “normally” where we find sunnies and crappies, we will always find a pike hanging around. We caught oodles of sunnies, off the weed line and never had a pike roll in. Not even a bass! Very odd.

I had some first timers out with me on the ice today. We iced some crappies and sunfish on waxies and minnows. We found fish suspended in deeper water and mid range depths of 17-20 fow. It was tough keeping up with the roaming crappie schools, but some of the fish cooperated. We didn’t try much for pike/bass in shallow since the crappies were keeping them happy. Most of the sunfish were small but they did provide constant action.

Bigger sunnies are there. I got into them Sat AM in 25ft depths. Look for them around the edges of the deep holes. You’ll need to move around a bit to find them and unlike crappies they will be holding close to the bottom. The smaller gills will be in 15ft or so. It was fun to see them zoom up to 15ft to hit my wax worm. I was using a Maynards Flutter Bug tipped with two or three waxies. If I moved to the 30ft or more depths I got into crappies which were suspending at 20 to 25ft.
