Please welcome David Scott (Fisher Dave) to In-DepthAngling’s Field Staff!
Dave is an avid, multi species fisherman and can be found wetting his line on many of our Twin City Metro Lakes.
More about Dave, in his own words…
I am a Minneapolis native, born and raised with a fishing rod or a rifle in my hand. I am an avid outdoors enthusiast that spends that majority of my time on the water, or in the field. I have been fishing the metro lakes and rivers since the late 70’s… by the late 80’s I was logging on an average of 5 days a week on metro waters. Now, 25+ years later, I am still at it, but I get to share the experience with my young children and friends on the same bodies of water I frequented as a child.
My angling started very young, fishing with family or riding the bike to the lake. I spent more time on the water than I did at home. By the time I was in my early teens I already owned a boat and spent a couple days a week on the city lakes and rivers floating around refining my multi-species angling skills. The next thing I knew I had a driver’s license and a truck with a trailer hitch, there was no stopping me then. In my teen years I picked up the hobby of tackle manufacturing. I started small by making my own jigheads and crappie jigs. My dad would take them to work and sell them, people asked if I could make other stuff.. to make a long story short it developed into a full time job and I had everything from crappie jigs to musky bucktails being distributed to 5 states . The next thing I knew I was guiding a fair amount of trips on the city lakes over a period of a couple years.
My overall goal with my relationship with IDA is to further strengthen the fishing community. I enjoy listening, and sharing what knowledge I can with others to help them in their own personal fishing experiences, and provide some fishing reports. I also enjoy organizing or hosting events, large or small for people to get out and enjoy the resources we have at hand and making a few friends along the way.
Knowledge acquired over time usually translates to more enjoyable time on the water. I enjoy the time on the water most when the people around me are enjoying themselves. I’ll sacrifice catching a big fish any day of the week to be able to take a photo of a friend or family member with a smile on their face and a fish in their hands. If I helped them catch that fish under their own power, that is an accomplishment to me.
Welcome to In-DepthAngling’s Field Staff Dave! We’re thrilled to have you on board to help in the Metro forums!
