Ice thickness was 14″ and the trucks are driving everywhere on the west end. I would classify the crappie bite as slow. Took quite a bit of coaxing to trigger the fish. Plastics did not do well the crappies wanted minnows. Almost all my fish were suspending about 10ft above the 25ft bottom. If you jigged anywhere below that nothing would show up. Caught one crappie about 1 ft below the ice as I lowered my jig. Heard several reports of decent pike activity on the weedline which this year is from 10 to 12ft. One old timer had a nice catch of gills from earlier in the day. Waxies fished on a tear drop spoon. He reported seeing huge schools of sunnies passing through on the camera just roaming the weedline.

nice work stan. I was just thinking about spring time and how I am excited to get out on the water with my little girl. She’ll be 3 1/2 and I think will sit a little longer than she did last year so our odds of actually getting the bobber in the water and letting it sit there for more than 5 seconds will be good.

Just be ready for her to throw her rod in the drink when she gets a little bored. Exactly what my sister did at that age. It was only funny because it was my brothers rod. We got it back by netting the bobber.

It doesn’t stop when they get older they still do it, My wife and I and our dog were out on Tonka last year, the dog fell in the lake and my wife just threw her pole in the water to get the dog!! She didn’t drop it in the boat she literally threw it out of the boat. Thank god it wasn’t my St. Croix avid series rod.

Just FYI the crappie bite was much better last night. Still needed a litle coaxing to bite but size was much better and some of the bigger ones just came out of nowhere to slam the jig. Fished a hump with a good break to main basin.

Hey I think Dean is holding on to evidence in the baitshop that your rod and reel can end up in the water too!
