Fished Friday night and Saturday searching for big panfish. Caught a lot of the smaller variety. Ended up with about a dozen crappie in 9″ range. Not too bad considering the front. Sunnies like euro larva, crappies preferred waxies during the day but minnows after sundown. Ice was 10″ to 12″ thick and solid in the Phelps/Spring Park area. Saw some vehicles out on the ice but I stuck to walking out. Good exercise.

I hit Wayzata bay on 1/19. Ice was a solid 13″, and I saw 1 truck venture out.

Fished the west side of the bay for pike (14-18′), with no takers. My friend jigged in 17′–right off the weed line in that area, and ended up with 3 smaller eyes right at dusk.

Was out chasing panfish last night. Very slow and did some hole hopping. Was marking fish but no takers. Switched to a glow flutter bug and problem solved. A few crappies and lots of decent gills until about 9pm then the bite just turned off. Had to be on the weedline to get any fish.
