White Bear Lake – current status

    Anybody know if it is safe to go out there on WBL? My buddy called me to go out and ” drill some holes”, but I do not normaly ice fish, and lately the posts sound like it is pretty dangerous, also it is 40 degrees today. Thanks for the help.

    Last Friday there was 6-8″ of ice where I was fishing. It is not current but it should help.

    Stcroixer- I live fairly close to WBL. I drove by it the other day and there was open water in a few spots that you could see. There were a few guys out there though. I say no thanks. I have been fishing up north a little, Chisago, Lindstrom, there is a good 9-12 inches of ice up there. Love2Fish.

    I have been out the last two nights drilling through 8″ of ice. Been getting some good eyes between 12-14 fow. Good luck!

    The ice is in good shape out there 6″ to 8″ of decent ice.

    And I have heard that the walleyes maybe be bitting out there

    Update

    Trucks are driving out of Bellaire beach.

    Nobody is fishing Ramsey Beach. Well maybe a few…….

    I’d be careful going east or northeast out of Bellaire. There was a large area of open water up until this cold snap.

    Very slow for me out of Ramsey, since Sat, but did get one nice eye. But that is about it. I am driving out there in truck.

    Things are going petty slow on whitebear lake but I did manage to catch a couple nice eyes (16″ and 18″)and some small northerns and perch last weekend out of the fishing docks. I might hit it up this weekend too. Maybe try out of ramsey beach.

    Thats no man land anyway. I saw that. There were a couple sled buzzing around the other night right over where the open water “WAS”

    I am going out with a few friends on Sat 10th, I am unfamiliar with WBL access. I prefer to tow portables on foot versus drive out. I have lowrance h2o gps with lake master chip and I see many good potential areas to fish.
    Any suggestions, help appreciated.

    Anybody see that perminant shack for sale, it is a perminant over by Bellair Beach, only $75.00. The guy said his wife would not let him bring it home and it has to be off the water in 2 weeks. It is in rough shape, but definately fixable.

    Heading out to WBL tonight, any words of wisdom for driving a suburban in the Birchwood area. Heard about springs, but no solid info.
    Still have not found any consistant bite on White Bear, has anybody? I’m not looking for locations, just some confidence that there are fish biting.

    A friend and I are heading out there in about 90 minutes. Don’t really know what to expect. Hoping for some multi-species action. We’ll be heading out from the Ramsey Beach. I’ll let you know how it goes…
