So where is everyone looking to go early ice this year on the east side? Unfortunatly I don’t have a lot of experience on the east side, especially early. I’ve caught crappies on Turtle and walleyes and crappies on White Bear and Bald Eagle, but always a little later.

I will be hitting the Bear as soon as mother nature lets me. As of last night at 2am the lake was steaming away pretty good.

I will be heading down there on Sunday night to check it out again!

The bummer is there was around 1.5 and 2 inches on the whole lake before T-day than we had that warm spell. It has been windy around home for the last couple nights. Hopefully we will slow the wind down and get some decent freezing!!!

I’ll be hitting Forest lake this Saturday. Was out there tonight to check ice. The SW bay on lake two has 5 – 6 inches. There were two guys out there with tip-ups. Got two flags and one pike while I was there. Lake one still has some open water in the middle, but is about 4 -5 inches on the south side. There was a 4 wheeler out there with three guys fishing the 17 foot hole. A little thin for a wheeler in my book.

Round lake next to phalen is completly frozen over. Not sure of thickness but it was 5 inches a few yards from shore. I have caught sunnies a crappies there.

Phalen was still open as of Monday night 12-4-6. I have seen good walleye and a few muskies come out of there.
