So what puddles are you guys lloking to get on early ice? With the cooler temps forecasted, it won’t be long. I like walking out on Black for some easy gills and Hydes or Schmidts can be good for crappies.

I will be bouncing around, but I’ll be spending some of my eary ice time right on the Minneapolis Lakes. Nokomis can give some good action if you keep shallow and can keep the other fishermen away(cant catch fish in 6′ of water with 5 guys).

I have a couple other *secrets* in town that will get investigated eary ice. One spot produced a 6 pound walleye, and three 17″-18″ walleyes 2 nights ago from shore under a slip bobber in 5′.

As I stepped out my front door this morning, I was reminded of why I do not ice fish much. There are a couple of lakes nearby I might give a go early on and see how it goes. The problem is I like ice fishing when it is 50 degrees or higher which lends itself more to late ice fishing season than early.
