With the stable weather sticking around for a couple days my brother and I decided to skip work and target Muskies. This was my first time fishing Forest this year and it proved to be somewhat tough in the beginning. All of the spots I fished the previous year didn’t produce at all. Last year around this time I concentrated on small humps with weeds and adjacent deep water on lake one and three. Today nothing at all!
Eventually we found a pattern that seemed to work…… Sporadic green weeds deeper off of flats that contained dense, thick dead weeds up shallow. All of the fish caught and seen came from these areas on black and orange Bulldawgs, Black/Silver Chatterbaits, and red- yellow Double Cowgirls. Only one fish in the boat today….. My brothers first Muskie, a nice 38″er. Congrats Eban! All in all I had three follows from fish ranging from a low 30’s spastic- aggresive fish to a mid to high 40’s fish. Eban caught his one and almost ended up with a two fish day as one destroyed his Buldawg and somehow got away. Here’s a picture of little bros first SKLUNGE!

Nope. Slower retrievals seemed to be working better on this particular day.
