    Went out yesterday with a buddy for a mixed bag on the Cannon. Fishing from shore we started with some chunks of cut sucker in a swift current undercut. Only took about 30 seconds for the first kittie, however weighing in only at 3 lbs, our hunger was not yet satisfied, though soon it would be. A couple more minutes go by and the fight was on. The biggest one so far, weighed in at 11 lbs. One more in the 7 lb range and we were off to get some eyes.
    We put on the waders and started pitchin 1/8 oz gumballs with 4 inch glow/silver flake power grubs. Immediately we were on fish, not all that great in size, but we were catchin em anyway. When all said n done we ended up with 5 keeper walleyes, which was my first walleye dinner since Ely in June of last year. All in all, 3 cats,12-15 eyes, bout 15 smallies, 2 pike and a largemouth. Helluva day

    Yes Gary, I was upstream, however if u want to get on these fish at this time of year, you have to be willing to get wet. Take the road less traveled so to speak

    As a kid, we use to pound the crappies at the old “Cascades”, just outside of Randolph. NICE crappies too!

    I haven’t been down there in years.

    the “cascades” is an area between Randolph and Northfield and is still accessible, but you’ll need 4×4 to get all the way back there if u don’t want to walk for a while. But note, that it is private property. In high school, i would go out there after classes and just slaughter the walleye and limit out on the crappies. I haven’t been out there for about 2 years now, but i know they are getting pretty strict on the “NO TRESPASSING”

    In high school i had the opportunity to “shock fish” to survey w/ the DNR on cannon river in a few different locations(2 spots west of Randolph and one spot east of Cannon Falls. It was just an amazing experience seeing everything that was in the water. HUGE carp, bunch of walleye, some cats, pike, bass, ton of panfish, a little of everything. The only thing i disliked was counting the hundreds of minnows.

    Nice Job vikefanmn77

    Hey Charlie;
    I thought the Cascades on the north side was DNR or County property???
