This morning me and a coworker of mine played hooky from work and spent 4 1/2 hours on Big Marine Lake north of Stillwater. We got on the lake about 6:30 am from the south landing and I got a small large mouth (10″) within the first 10 minutes on a plastic worm in 10 ft. of water in the weeds out from the launch a 1/4 mile. Then we went for 2 hours with only a 2 lb. northern. Then we moved to the east shore, nothing. Then we went into the large bay on the east side of the lake, marked alot of fish, threw cranks, spinners, etc. at them and got nothing. About 9:30 we came back to the main body of water and headed toward the north launch but still in the main part of lake on the east side. Switched back to plastic worms in 12-16 feet on edge of weed line and I boated a 16 inch largemouth. We stayed in the same general area for an hour and I got 4 more 15-17 in. and my buddy got 2 more. So it was a worthwhile trip, Just a slow start. Sorry I don’t have pics. but I don’t have a digital camera.

Thanks for the report. I used to love Big Marine, but for the last 3-4 years the average size of the bass seemed to fall off. Its good hearing someone get into a few nicer fish. I might have to make a trip or 2 out there this fall for a blast-and-cast!
