A few observations from my afternoon and evening 8/31 on the east side:
*4 mph trolling speed was way better than 3 mph.
*A 1 oz. dardevle with a single barbless hook (left over from a Canada trip) is almost totally weedless, when it does catch some weeds you can usually clear it with a few good jerks. True, more fish came off via remote release than with trebles but it was worth not having to clean off the bait all the time.
*Bass as well as northerns will hit dardevles. I was using orange/chartreuse scale.
Best fish was a 36″ northern, nicest northern I’ve caught in a long while.

Interesting…. When musky fishing we are never afraid of cranking it up when it comes to speed. When you think about the fact that Esox can achieve speeds in excess of thirty mph when coming out of their pre-strike “S”, hitting something doing 4 or better seems like childs play.

That guy that guides outta Malmo on the pontoon, with the boards. Seems to me, he might be someone who doesn’t want anyone to know about spoons either…

By the way, a 36″ pike is a good fish for Tonka!!!

The biggest bass I got to the boat was a couple pounds, another one threw the spoon on a jump that was 3-4 lbs.
