When are you heading there? I was out there a bit last week and got bass on the inside and outside weed edges. Throwing stick works, jogs worms and small cranks.

I thought about hitting it again soon. I’m curouis if the fish are in the foil or if they have pulled to the coontail or hard bottoms.

    Dan,
Thanks for the note, I am going on Monday. It will be a warm day, might have to hit some deeper water, but am sure it will be tough conditions. May have to fall into the lake a few times.
Mike-I’ll make a report on my return.

    hi Dan,

Will make a quick report, it is getting late now, but I can also add more to it tomorrow. Monday turned out to be the hottest day in central MN for the last 11 years. Mpls official temp was 101 for the high. We went over to Victoria for lunch about 2pm, and my temp readout in my vehicle read 104, which I believe. It was also a very windy day.

All this hot weather, I think made for some tough fishing, but the guy I went with and I still got some good bites and good fish. We got to the lake about 7:30am, and tried some shallow water reeds and weedy areas, and had not much going in a few different spots. I thought we should head into the pads and slop for some rubber frog fishing (which I really like to do). during the day I landed frog Bass of 17, 18, and a solid 19 incher. (see pic). In the morning lost a very big fish that just didn’t hook up good enough. We did try some docks, and we did get a few fish 16-18″ on jig-worm and Senko’s, but the wind was so strong it made boat control very difficult. my friend did better on docks, as all he had to do was concentrate on the fishing part. I went back to the frog in the evening, and lost another huge fish of 20-21 inches (jumped twice), and less than 5 minutes later hooked up an 18″ that I landed. I ended up with 5 very good fish, 16, 17, 18, 18, 19+”, and my partner had 9, with fish from 13-18″. We also fished swim jigs, some spinnerbaits, and buzz baits, but for me the best bites and best fish were on the frog.

I got the season pass, so I plan on heading back there more, and esp in the Fall.

    Thanks,

    Jack..

Nice fish Jack and thanks for the report. The season pass is a waste as the fish don’t bite in the fall.

    Thanks Mike,
IF I had known before hand that those fish DON”T bite during the Fall, I wouldn’t have wasted my 20 bucks. maybe I should try and get rid of it. Well, as long as I already have it, I just might have to go back in Sep Oct and Nov.
    Might as well try, right?????
    (probably see you there)
