Turtle Lake quickie report

After seeing that the Demontraville boat ramp was filled yesterday we ended up going to Turtle. When we arrived at around 9 we could tell that we weren’t the only people thinking it was a good day to be on the water. There was around 8 other boats fishing but another 20+ crusing, skiing, etc… if nothing else it made boat control interesting.

My brothers and I ended up getting 20+ bass with the largest being about 3#, a handful of northerns, and 3 bonus walleyes.

We keyed in on the more sporatic weed patches. When we would find one of these places we would quickly pick up a handful of fish. We caught fish on the weed lines but had much more consistant success on the sporatic weed spots.
We caught the fish on a wide variety of lures; shallow and mid depth cranks (fire tiger, shad, and perch colored), drop shop, spinnerbaits (white and char, willow and colorado), and texas rigged worms and tubes. The biggest fish came off texas rigged worms in red shad.
All in all it was a nice day to be on the water, learned a little bit more on drop-shotting, and caught fish. What more can you ask for?

Nice report. The lake has a pretty good population of 4lb largies in it as well as some big crappies. Weekends can be tough though.

That lake is a sleeper in my opinion. Usually the fish are on the bigger side of 2 lbs and boy do they fight. Hope to get out there again and really get into them.
