Got out today for a few hours with fellow IDA staff Calvin S. We didn’t have a great outing, but we did hook up with a couple fish only to come unbuttoned right after the hook set. Also had a follow from a very hot mid 30 inch fish. Came in on my spinner bait, turned twice on my figure 8 then she slanked off into the murky depths.
All our fish came on the deep side of Mill foil infested flat. Often times we were out in 20+ feet of water casting to the weed line and slowly working our baits back. Both spinner baits and bucktails got fish today.
The water was perfect and we got out before the pleasure traffic got too bad. For me personally, it was my first trip since opener, so it felt really good to be back on the water. Let’s do it again soon Cal!!
