I took my two boys out for as couple hours on White Bear Lake. The water temps ranged anywhere between 46 degrees and 54 degrees.
We checked the Northeast shore area since we presumed the temps would be warmer there with the wind blowing water toward that shore. That was where we observed colder temps.
We also traveled to the west side to escape some of the winds. Just under the bridge west of the island going toward the VFW lodge we read water temps consistently in the 50+ degree range. That is also where we ran into bluegills.
Unfortunately the clouds blocked the sun and the wind made the boys uncomfortable (not to mention an all-out battle-royal in the bottom of my boat by my 7 and 9 year olds) forced us to decide to pull out.
Should be a good week to search for panfish on the metro area lakes!!!
