Main lake temps are 46. I found some small bays and cove with temps in the low 50s and the crappies were very active. Had to fish the jig much more actively than I would have thought. If it wasn’t moving you wouldn’t get a bite. A definite preference for chartreuse was noted. I tried some deeper weed edges but nothing going on there. Look for warm water.

Nothing over 12″ but a lot of 10s. Was out Saturday and got skunked for crappies. Couldn’t find them in the coves (water temps were 55) or on the first break weed edges. Disappeared to who knows where. Main lake is up to 51 degrees. Sunnies have moved into the shallows as have the bass. Going out tonight to catch some 20lb carp. It’s a gas on light tackle and slip bobbers.

Almost any shallow bay will work. Look for carp cruisin the shallows fill up a hook with canned corn and flip it out. Watch the bobber closely. As big as these fish are the take is very subtle. Harrisons is a good example a big flat of shallow and warm water. Of course if I see a bunch of crappies I will have a rod ready for them too.

Well I couldn’t connect with the carp but I did find the crappies. Lots of 6 to 8″ ones anyway. The bigger ones are still out somewhere on a weed edge I haven’t found. With all the bait I am seeing in the shallow bays they will be moving in soon. I pulled 14 fish in a row from one jet ski lift so you get an idea how stacked up the fish are in certain spots.
