Gary,
The boss let slip today that we’re getting off early on Friday! I’m going!!! We’re should I look for you?
Steve
If I make it, you’ll see a early 90s red 3/4 ton chev down there with topper and IDA stickers on it…….
Call my cell if you don’t see me. Right now, I’m not positive I’m going to make it or not……

Well you guys didn’t miss much. The fish were super touchy today. I got out there about 1PM. 50 degrees and sunny, it felt like late ice in March. Not too much slop on the ice and the walking was OK. Most places had about 8 inches of ice. Apparently no one had to work today, as there were about 1000 people out there fishing. I immediately noticed a lot of guys were moving around a lot and the rest of them were playing football or drinking beer. Not good! I talked to a couple of guys and they said nobody was doing much. I tried depths from 8 feet out to 20 feet. Most of the afternoon all I caught were Perch. They were all about 4 inches long and then out of the blue one that was almost 10 inches long. I couldn’t buy a sunfish until sunset. They’d come through about 3 feet off the bottom and then stare at your jig. If you moved it at all they’d spook and be gone. They even ignored my famous “slow lift/slow drop” presentation. You had to keep it absolutely still and then one of them would take nab at the jig. I finally set up the portable to get out of the wind and then put the rod in a rod holder! They were acting that strange. I ended up keeping 6 fish and they were all between 7 and 8 inches. No Crappies, no Walleyes. A lot of people left at sunset and very few were coming out. I never got a nibble if I was in a crowd, it was better off by myself somewhere.
Oh, and those 6 sunfish tasted great!
