Here is a fish a friend of mine got on a metro lake recently. The fish measured 29.5″ long with and 18.75″ girth. A true monster walleye from a metro area lake!!! Thanks for sharing with us Jason!!!

We have been debating the weight this morning. I’m guessing in the 10.5 to 11.5 range. If you use Walleye Central’s weight calculator, it is an 11.86lb fish. Other weight calcs were 10 – upper 11’s. I have no problem calling it a 10lb fish and if it were mine I’d say 11. Hey, I’m just a fisherman!!

Ha! Thanks guys. Thanks Kooty for keeping things on the down low to “protect the innocent”. This big gal came out of Tonka on 10/19. It was in a place that I have fished a lot but not with great results. Add that to the fact there was no wind and I have to admit the fishing gods threw me a bone.

I personally think it was around 11 lbs. even but I have had others guess as high as 12. If we had been able to locate the scale in the boat, it would not have left room for debate but hey… after all this is fishing, right?

In fact, I am lucky I have a picture. We didn’t have a camera on board so we let her revive in the live well while I buzzed home to grab the camera. We took a few pics and then let her go…

Oh, and a clarification… the Girth was 18.25″, not 18.75″. But in all honesty, taking the girth on a big fish like that flopping around was also not an exact science.

Like I said, if it’s my fish, I’ll be calling it 11lbs for sure!!! No matter what she weighed, she is still swimming today, coolest part of it all!!! AND I’m going to catch her this weekend!

I think if she were mine I would have to call her a 12lber. Great fish from any lake. You had better have a few of these to celebrate.
